Barry Witt, FACOG, MD
Biography
Each year during the holidays, Barry Witt, MD, a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility (REI) specialist, has a full mailbox.
“I get loads of cards. It used to be pictures of babies, but now it’s pictures of 20-year-olds who are going off to college,” says Dr. Witt. “It’s obviously incredible to help bring a life into the world, but in the long-term, it’s about creating human beings who are going off to impact the world.”
Dr. Witt says he was drawn to REI (an obstetrics and gynecology subspecialty focused on treating medical disorders of the reproductive tract, including infertility and hormonal imbalances) because of its quickly evolving nature.
“It’s very rewarding personally and also scientifically. Obstetrics has been around for millennia, but reproductive endocrinology is much newer and cutting-edge,” he says. “I enjoy being a part of the dramatic improvements we have made over the years in terms of in vitro fertilization, genetic testing, and fertility preservation,” he says.
Dr. Witt describes his office in Greenwich as a concierge practice where the doctors perform all of the procedures themselves and therefore get to know their patients each step along the way. “Each visit is a chance for us to connect and support them,” he says.
