Biography

Yonghee K. Cho, MD, specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and says listening to her patients is her first priority.

“Many of my patients have been having issues for a long time and have been bounced around to different providers. Often, they are frustrated and feel unheard,” says Dr. Cho. “The first thing I do is express that I am listening, that I believe them, and that I have worked with patients like them before. Then, we discuss options for treatment and management of their problems, and these are decisions we make together.”

Dr. Cho is trained in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. She offers a minimally invasive surgical approach for women with difficult gynecologic pathology or a complex surgical history. She has a special interest in the medical and surgical management of endometriosis, Essure removal, and surgery for large fibroids.

“A lot of my patients’ lives have been significantly impacted by their disease. Whether it is anemia and heavy bleeding due to uterine fibroids or chronic pelvic pain, their ability to work, do activities with their kids, and even leave their home can be affected,” she says. “Improving their quality of life by treating and managing their diseases is what makes me passionate about my work and I love getting to know my patients.”

Dr. Cho is an assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive sciences at Yale School of Medicine.
