Vrunda Bhavsar Desai, MD, works with women to improve their health throughout their lives. “Being able to provide longitudinal care, from adolescence through the childbearing years and finally menopause, and really having an opportunity to develop a relationship with patients, is extremely rewarding,” she says. She treats patients for many types of conditions, including abnormal bleeding, contraception, fibroids and perimenopause.
Dr. Desai has made advanced and minimally invasive gynecological surgical techniques a specialty in her practice, and focuses her research on examining and improving efficiency and outcomes of gynecological care. “With advances in minimally invasive gynecology, we are able to perform complex gynecological procedures through small skin incisions,” she says. “These techniques allow for shorter recovery periods, less blood loss and better outcomes for our patients.” Dr. Desai is an assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at Yale School of Medicine.
