Dr Jayasuriya is a native of Sri Lanka where she graduated from medical school. Subsequently she underwent postgraduate medical training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in New Zealand.
She completed cardiology fellowship training at the University of Arizona where she won many awards including the prestigious Allen Ginn Jr. MD, endowed award for excellence in patient care and the house staff educator of the year of the University of Arizona.
Dr Jayasuriya served as faculty at the University of Arizona during which time she edited published a text book in echocardiography. Recognizing her dedication to teaching, the cardiovascular fellows awarded her the Sarver heart center teaching award in 2013.
She subsequently completed interventional cardiology training at Yale University and currently serves as faculty at Yale University and cares for patients at the Yale New Haven Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Connecticut Health Care System.
