Paige J. Brennan, MD, is a cardiologist with Yale Medicine’s cardiology practice in Norwich. He primarily treats abnormalities of the heart’s electrical system, including irregular heartbeat, rapid heartbeat and other cardiac conditions. He always seeks to reassure first-time patients, telling them, “We will work this through together.”
Hypertension, smoking, diabetes and high cholesterol are primary risk factors for the conditions that Dr. Brennan treats. He says an interest in the electrical system of the heart inspired him to become to become a doctor, and he is excited by research that could one day lead to the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm abnormalities before they cause damage.
Dr. Brennan says it is hard to pin down only one area of his work that he considers to be most worthwhile. “I would have to say what is most rewarding is anytime you can help improve a patient’s quality of life,” he says.
