Dr. Christopher Teng is a board certified subspecialty trained glaucoma specialist. He is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Yale University School of Medicine and is the Director of the Glaucoma Service and Glaucoma Fellowship.
Dr. Teng received his undergraduate degree from The University of Chicago and Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at New York University Medical Center and fellowship in Glaucoma at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Teng provides care for medical and surgical glaucoma, as well as for cataracts and complex anterior segment situations. He performs glaucoma laser treatment, small incision cataract surgery, complex cataract surgery, anterior segment reconstruction, micro invasive glaucoma surgery (iStent, Trabectome, endocyclophotocoagulation, etc.) and traditional glaucoma surgery including Trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage implants.
He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and magazines, and has lectured and presented his research at national and international meetings, including Brazil, Mexico, Romania, Korea, India, Nepal, China and United Arab Emirates. His research and clinical interests include the optic nerve complex, parapapillary atrophy, glaucoma surgery, micro invasive glaucoma surgery and complex anterior segment and cataract surgery.
Dr. Teng is dedicated to patient care, resident and fellow education, and is an active participant in international trips, having traveled to Nepal, Romania, India and United Arab Emirates to teach and perform surgery. He has received an American Glaucoma Society Clinician Scientist Research Award, was awarded Lecturer of the Year at New York University and received The John S. Hermann, M.D. Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching from The New York York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Teng has been named one of the New York Super Doctors Rising Stars in Ophthalmology, and in 2015, he was named to The Ophthalmologist’s Top 40 Under 40 Power List.
