Biography

Albert Sinusas, MD, is a specialist in cardiovascular medicine. He is director of the Yale Translational Research Imaging Center (Y-TRIC), director of Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging at Yale New Haven Hospital, and chair of the Yale Radioactive Drug Research Committee (RDRC) and Yale Radiation Safety Committee.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Sinusas supervises and interprets ECG and cardiopulmonary stress tests, SPECT and PET radiotracer-based imaging studies and cardiovascular computed tomography.

Dr. Sinusas’ research interests include evaluation of cardiac function, myocardial strain, myocardial perfusion, and coronary flow in ischemic and non-ischemic heart disease, microvascular disease, and peripheral artery disease, for cardiovascular risk assessment. His work focuses on analyzing the impact of atherosclerosis and cardiac injury on heart muscle function and flow and heart repair and creating novel therapeutics and new tools for molecular based imaging and heart scan analysis. He also explores the use of deep learning in predicting risks after heart imaging.

Dr. Sinusas is a recipient of the Hermann Blumgart Award. His research has received support from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the American Heart Association.

Dr. Sinusas is a professor of medicine, radiology and biomedical imaging at Yale University School of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at Yale University.
