Cognitive Assessment Norms among Spanish Speakers

If you are 18 years or older, have lived in the United States for the past 12 months, and your primary language is Spanish, you may be eligible to participate in this confidential study. The study aims to assess the performance of healthy adults who speak Spanish and live in the United States on different cognitive tests. The evaluation will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Tests include measures of memory, attention, organization, visuospatial skills, and language. Compensation is a $25 gift card.

Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion:

a) be between 18 to 80 years of age, 

b) have been living in the U.S. for at least 1 year (12 continuous months), 

c) have at least one year of formal education

d) be able to read and write at the time of evaluation in Spanish

e) a score of ≥23 on the Mini-Mental State Examination

f) a score of ≤10 on the Patient Health Questionnaire–9, and 

g) a score of ≤10 on the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 

Exclusion:

a) a history of neurodevelopmental disorder

b) a history of learning disorder

c) past or present neurologic condition

d) past or present chronic medical condition that may affect cognition (i.e. metabolic syndrome, chronic heart failure, sleep apnea)

e) past or present use of psychotropic medications that may affect cognition

f) past or present history of substance abuse or dependence

g) past or present history of psychiatric disorder
